I have no money. I feel irresponsible and stupid because I have no money. I don’t know what I can do. I know I can fix this problem soon, just not at this minute. It is stressing me out a lot so much to the point it has made me physically ill.
What should have been a three hour drive from Lexington, Kentucky to Columbus, Ohio took me more than 24hrs. My car broke down three times for two completely different reasons and no my car is somewhere in Southern Ohio.
I did get to meet some Ohio Highway Patrol Officers.
Officer:

“Hello Ma’m, what seems to be the problem?”
Elenamary:

“Thank you for stopping officer. My radiator seems to have busted but I
was just getting ready to call triple A and have them tow me.”
Officer:

“Can I see some ID please?”
Elenamary:

“My ask what for? “
Officer:
- “We ask anyone pulled over on the side of the road for ID. I just want to make sure you haven’t committed any crimes like robbery or murder before stopping here.”
Elenamary:

“Do you suspect me of having committed any crimes?”
Officer:
-
“No ma’m just need to check and make sure you haven’t.”
Elenamary:

“I am sorry I don’t feel comfortable giving you my ID.”
Officer:
-
“You have to give me ID.”
Elenamary:
-
“I am going to give you my ID but I want it to be understood that I don’t have too and am uncomfortable with it.”
Officer:
-
“If you lived around here, wouldn’t you want to know who was driving through your town?”
Elenamary:
-
“No, I wouldn’t. I want my country to be a place where people can travel freely.”
Officer:
-
“Well, it is too sad but we don’t live in a world like that and we never will.”
Elenamary:
-
“I hope to live in a world like that and I hope to work on it everyday. And I hope you will someday help me work on making this a better country.”
Oh, man. That exchange is something else. Hope your financial situation works out. . .
I think we should start a “fundraiser” for elenamary. If we can collect a dollar from 10 Blogeros y Blogeras, we can sent her $10!!!

I vaguely remember a Supreme Court case saying that state laws that require you to provide ID when requested by law enforecment are not unconstutitional. I don’t know the law in Ohio though. Bleh………… Thats just icky. What do you think about Columbus cops making a big deal over the Mexican consulate ID cards? They don’t accept them as valid IDs anymore.
