Thanks for writing about Marla Ruzicka last year.

Today is the anniversary of her tragic death.

We remember her in the Atlantic Review: Marla Ruzicka: Civilian Victims of War. She did advance U.S. interests:Marla: Reconciliation. Thanks.

Hey Stranger-

I was just talking about the very issue your mom brings up with a few friends.

My friends argued that we do need leaders, as it makes the movement more powerful and unifies the voice.

My argument was that it was refreshing to see the people stand up for themselves. I think it's one of the few times in history the people have stood up on their own without being attached to one persons rhetoric, ego, and/or viewpoint. I also argued that by being leaderless, there's no one single person to shoot to end it all - as was the case with Martin and Malcolm.

We all did agree that it is time for Latinos to step up in a big way (the way the blacks have) and start opening our own colleges, and build a supportive infrastructure to nurture and foster leaders of the future...
