I am off to Mexico on Tuesday. I had wanted to be in Mexico for dia de la Virgen de Guadalupe. I bought my ticket in order to arrive in Mexico on December 13th, only a few hours later to realize that the day of the Virgen Mary is on the 12th not the 13th! How could I have messed it up so much? Only one of, if not my, favorite holiday, and I had forgotton the correct date. So, instead I will be alone in Detroit Michigan in a hotel room on the 12th. I fly out of Columbus to Detroit on the 12th at about 8pm and spend the night in Detroit only to fly out the next day (the 13th) to Mexico. It was cheaper to pay for a hotel room in Detroit then to try and fly out of Columbus either the same day or on a different flight.
If anyone knows of something fun to do in Detroit, or a way to get around without car, and go to mass for la virgen, please let me know. Or if you know of a cheap place to stay, near the airport please let me know that too.
In Mexico, my neighborhood is el barrio de Guadalupe. The church courtyard overlooks the terrece of our house. There are big castillos, and torros and kids all hyped up on sweet tamales and atole, and ponche. I’ll miss it. ohhh the saddness.
I can’t believe that you booked a flight and didn’t let me know! Shame on you… Oh well…anyway, we will have to find a way to meet up…send me your trip details, will you? Also, if you are around and can come to Queretaro the 16th, you should definetely come…it’s the day of Luis’s tattoo convention. Since you are gonna miss the celebration of the Virgen de Guadalupe, maybe you could have the chance to get that tattoo you had been thinking about…
I’m so sorry I missed this post! I would’ve given you the scoop. Nice to see you’re back. I’ll be catching up on your posts.
