Liza of Culture Kitchen emailed me and to get to the jist of things, we need blogtitlan and bloggers of POC to come together, we need our own blog convention, (not Kos). Below is an excerpt of an email from Liza:
I am going to YearlyKos because unfortunately they are the only ones right now getting legitimacy as the lefty blogosphere’s event of the year. But I am not only going to represent me, I am going there to represent us. Because “US” don’t have right now an event to call our own. Yet.
Which brings me to the point I want to make : Leaders of color online need to have their own conference. At one point I thought it needed to be about bloggers only but I am absolutely convinced that we need to do this beyond the political blogosphere and include all new media leaders. That’s why Chris Rabb (Afronetizen) and I are calling it The Digital Ethnorati project for now. They’re POC using the web for a myriad things that never get the New and Old Mainstream Media’s attentions. And there’s a lot of stuff happening outside of our country that needs to be highlighted as well.
So you Chicago blogeros, what if we meet up Saturday morning for breakfast and discussion of our own “Digital Ethnorati project”? I was thinking we could actually meet somewhere near the Kos convention (McCormick Place Convention Center) for breakfast. Whether or not you want to be part of the project it would be fun to meet so many of you. I don’t want to post my phone number here but if you email me at elenamary/arroba/hotmail/punto/com I will get back to you with my phone number. Anyone want to make a recommendation where we can meet?

elenamary, this is so last minute and i already have plans this weekend. but *sniffle, sniffle* you will be there to see Pearl Jam and that incites an omg, omg from me. the blogger thing sounds interesting but again this morning is the first time i hear about it. keep me posted and i’ll make sure to keep looking for info on it. enjoy the city!
